Irony & Ambiguity

At first, I thought irony was to go through a lot of pain, but I learned that this was wrong. Actually, irony is the difference between what the readers expect or what seems suitable and the reality of what happens.

There are three types of irony; situational, verbal, and dramatic irony.

I also learned about ambiguity. I used to think ambiguity was to be stuck up or absurd, but I learned that ambiguity is a part of text with multiple meanings in which something can be interpreted in a number of different ways.

On my irony and ambiguity pretest, I scored far-below grade-level. On my post test, I hope that I will score above grade-level.

Theme

At first, I thought theme was the setting of a story, but I learned that this was wrong.

Actually, theme is a central idea or insight about life about humans nature that give a story

meaning.

Some themes are universal, which means that they themes commonly found in the literature of

all cultures and ages.

Theme can be found in all genres of literature; the five main genres of literature are non-fiction,

fiction, poetry, drama, myth.

Since I now understand theme, I can find the theme of my favorite movie. My favorite movie is

"I Am Legend" The theme of this movie is when people start to play god and try to find a cure

even for something good their can be consequence.

On my theme pretest, I was below grade level On my posttest, I hope that I will be above grade

level.

Second Quarter Goals 2008

This quarter, I will try harder to get a higher A in Ms. Priester’s class than I got the first quarter In order to achieve this, I will study more and make sure that everything Ms. Priester wants us to know I will understand.

This quarter, I will make sure that I am paying attention when someone is reading a story. In order to achieve this, I will follow along with every word the reader says so that when Ms.Priester calls on me to read the next paragraph i will be able to to read the next paragraph.

This quarter, I will try harder in my other classes. In order to achieve this, I will pay attention in my math class. I will be prepared for any pop quizzes in Mr. Walker’s class, and will finish my math homework in JJ’s class.
