Tuesday Warm Up

This weekend was a hard weekend to go through. On 22nd of May the students and I learned that Jason Eichelberger the staff at boy 8 had died in motorcycle accident. We I herd this I did not know how to react. I could not continue going to school so I had to leave home. Many others did the same as I was walking home I notice a few students were just standing there not speaking a word. I got home and just sat on my bed thinking of nothing but how it was going to affect his son Von.

I got a New Job

Yesterday, on April 18, I got a job and worked at SPA. My new job is with Kim and I am her new assistant. Yesterday, I went around campus finding people who wanted to go sport fishing. Sport fishing is when you go and fish out at sea. At first, it started as only seniors could go on the fishing trip, but after most of the seniors chose not to go we decided to make the fishing trip for everyone. I was running around campus hunting them down till, I found five people who wanted to go. From my experience of going around campus searching for people, I got to go to girls 101, and I found out that there house is very neat.

Fourth Quarter Goals 2009

This quarter, I will try harder to get an A plus in Ms. Priester’s class because I am moving to her 2nd period class. In order to achieve this, I will ask for help from my houseparents and I will make sure to understand my homework assignments.
This quarter, I will try not to be influenced to act immaturely by my other peers. In order to achieve this, I will ignore all negative behavior and I will focus on my work so I won't be kicked out of your second period.
This quarter, I will try hard to improve my grades to the best of my ability. In order to achieve this, I will not be distracted by other students and I will continue to do all my work until the last day of school.

Response to President Obama

“In a global economy where the most valuable skill you can sell is your knowledge, a good education is no longer just a pathway to opportunity – it is a prerequisite.

It is our responsibility as lawmakers and as educators to make this system work. But it is the responsibility of every citizen to participate in it. So tonight, I ask every American to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training. . . . And dropping out of high school is no longer an option. It's not just quitting on yourself, it's quitting on your country – and this country needs and values the talents of every American.

These education policies will open the doors of opportunity for our children. But it is up to us to ensure they walk through them. In the end, there is no program or policy that can substitute for a parent – a mother or father who will attend those parent/teacher conferences, or help with homework after dinner, or turn off the TV, put away the video games, and read to their child. I speak to you not just as a president, but as a father when I say that responsibility for our children's education must begin at home.”

-President Barack Obama, 2/24/09

The paragraph that Barack Obama wrote inspires me. It not only has emotions but also has facts that make us think. I know that in this economy, dropping out of high school is not a choice. What Barack Obama is trying to do, is lower college prices so students don’t use that as an excuse. Lowering the price of collage may help people go back to school because they want to improve their education but don’t have money to pay. I hope that Barack Obama will be able to pass this law so more students enroll in college to get a better education and improve our economy.

Poetry Sounds

I recently lost a woman that raised me, through actions and her loving guidance, from birth. She showed me how to love others, consider their feelings, and to always have pride in myself and know that I am loved.I will miss her greatly, but God needed another angel, and she already has the experience from her years here - guiding and loving all, from her closest family to a person she might be waiting in line with at the grocery store. Everything I do, everything I accomplish, I do with her in my mind and in my heart. In Loving Memory of Marie 1928-2000
This Poem was found at http://www.netpoets.com/.

At first I thought rhyme was to use words that sound the same in your writing, but it actually means the repetition of the sound of the stressed vowel and any sound that follows in words that are close together. I learned that end rhymes are rhymes that occur at the end of lines. An example of this is the poem “Since Hannah Moved Away” by Judith Viorst. I also learned about rhyme scheme that is the pattern of end rhymes in a poem, which is indicated by a different letter for each rhyme. On my pretest, I earned far below grade level. On the posttest I hope that I will earn above grade level.

Make Up Warm Up

My opinion about the Chris Brown incident is that he needs to be imprisoned without bail. If he really hit that girl he should pay the price and not bail himself out just because he has money. I can't believe that after what he did a lot of girls still don't care the still love him. He should go to jail, take classes and go take class to fix the problem that he has. Why would he hit a girl for what reason? He needs help and not just hide behind his money.

Imagery and Figurative Language

At first I thought imagery was a different way to look at something but I learned that I was wrong. Actually, imagery is language that appeals to the five senses. I also learned about figurative language. I thought figurative language was writing that was supposed to be taken on a serious level but I learned that figurative language is a word or phrase that describes one thing in terms of another and is not meant to be understood in a literal sense. The three main types of figurative language are similes, metaphors and personifications.
